You Can Own Super Hero Happy Hour For Only $93.03

March 21, 2008

My friend Lance pointed out to me that a rather entrepreneurial individual that goes by the alias of IRENE_HANA is currently offering a rare and in good condition, neatly stored with no dust marks, used copy of Super Hero Happy Hour 01 for the low, low price of $93.03.

If only this was the going market price. If it were, Chris Fason and I would be rich self-publishing comic book creators. Now, I’m not certain if it is for the first single issue of Super Hero Happy Hour or the trade paperback which collects the first four issues. Either way I’ve got a box or two of both the single first issue and the trade sitting in my closet that I’m willing to sell at the reduced special bargain price of $46.51 cents — that’s more than half off of what IRENE_HANA is selling it for. I’m not sure, but she may be able to capitalize on the fact that the product features the original “Super” Hero Happy Hour title as opposed to the current Hero Happy Hour title.

But, remember… If $93.03 is a bit out of your price-range for hilarious super hero hijinks you can always download a free copy of the first issue of Hero Happy Hour at WOWIO.

Hero Happy Hour Back On Tap!

December 14, 2007

It’s Hero Happy Hour time again! I am very pleased to announce that fan-favorite super hero humor title is once again available. With this round, co-creator Chris Fason and I are serving up two new collections in an all-new digest format — Hero Happy Hour Omnibus 01 and Hero Happy Hour Super Special Flashback. This is in anticipation for all-new Hero Happy Hour tales that we are preparing to serve up in the coming year.

The Omnibus 01 contains the main feature story from the first five issues (including those issues that were originally called Super Hero Happy Hour). The original Volume 1 tpb that was published in 2003 contained the first four issues. The Super Special Flashback contains all of the stories featured in the Super Special 2004 as well as selected back-up stories from the original issues including “Part-Time” from Gail Simone and Cal Slayton, as well as the previously unpublished “The Broken Record” featuring Possum At Large by Chad Lambert and Joe Gravel. Solicitation copy and ordering info below.

hhhomni-frontcover-blog.jpgDid you miss any (or, dare we say, all) of the first five issues of Hero Happy Hour? Well, unlike missing out at “last call,” you’ve got the chance to partake in all five of the original rounds with the super hero gang from the Hideout Bar & Grill. This special digest-sized collection contains the “super” feature stories from the first five fan-favorite issues.

Imagine pulling up a stool to the bar and sipping a frosty pint of your favorite beverage as you listen in on the conversations of the “regulars” that frequent the neighborhood tavern. But, this establishment is unlike any other bar. The Hideout Bar & Grill caters to the super heroes of First City. For the regular heroes it is “a place where everyone knows your name” — secret identity or not. Black & White – Digest Size – 148 Pages – $11.99. Order direct from Indy Planet.

Join Tom Beland (True Story, Swear To God), Scott Morse (Soulwind, Southpaw), Todd Nauck (Wildguard, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man), Steve Niles (30 Days of Night, Batman: Gotham County Line), Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman), Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night, Wormwood Gentleman Corpse), and many other comic book writers and artists as they belly up to the bar to offer their take on the patrons of every super hero’s favorite hangout.

This collection contains all of the original stories from the Hero Happy Hour Super Special 2004, as well as an additional healthy pour of bonus material including an all new never before published story featuring “Possum At Large.” Black & White – Digest Size – 72 Pages – $7.49. Order direct from Indy Planet.

These two digest-sized editions would make great stocking stuffers, but you better order quick in time for the holiday. Thanks.

Hero Happy Hour Update

October 17, 2007

hhhblogtrio.jpgHero Happy Hour is gearing up for its triumphant return. The latest update from the printer indicates that the Hero Happy Hour: Omnibus 01 is currently on the presses. This means that the Hero Happy Hour Super Special Flashback can’t be that far behind. I’m hoping to have both books in my hands by early next week and with any luck they’ll both be available for ordering very soon. Once they’re available you can be assured that I’ll be announcing on how and where to order copies, and information on both titles will be available at the newly redesigned (which should be complete and nifty around the same time).

In other Hero Happy Hour news — I’m in the middle of writing the next all-new issue and it’s turning out to be a bigger story than I originally planned. I’m discussing with my co-conspirator Chris Fason (Hero Happy Hour artist) on whether we’ll make it all one big jam packed issue, or break it down into a two-issue story arc. A couple of things that I can reveal about the upcoming issue… Night Ranger will be sporting a new look and an all-new villain is introduced.

And, speaking of Super Specials… The early stages of planning for the next Hero Happy Hour Super Special is underway. What comic book creator talents will be bellying up to the bar this round? Stay tuned.
