2008 Eisner Nominations

Yesterday, the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards nominations were announced. And, while I wasn’t nominated for any category — kind of hard to be nominated when one has nothing to nominate — a few people that I call friends were.

Jason Rodriguez is the mastermind behind, and the editor of Postcards: Stories That Never Happened (Villard), which was nominated for Best Anthology. This title also had a number of friends and colleagues of mine contributing as writers and/or artists — such as Tony Fleecs, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Phil Hester, A. David Lewis, Tom Beland, and Neil Kleid.

Ben Templesmith was nominated for Best Painter or Multimedia Artist (interior art) for the Fell (Image), and two two titles that I served as editor on (not that I’m taking any credit, but I’m proud of my boy) — 30 Days of Night: Red Snow and Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse (both IDW). Ben was one of the creators that bellied up to the bar for the Hero Happy Hour Super Special back in ’04.

And, artist Chuck BB was nominated for Special Recognition for his work on Black Metal (Oni). Chuck and I collaborated on the story “13” in the premiere issue of Western Tales of Terror back in ’04.

Congratulations to all nominees and good luck. For a complete list of 2008 Eisner Award nominations click here.
