Conventional 2008? Part III

Alright, let’s wrap up the list of potential comic book conventions to attend in 2008.

Dragon*Con — August 29 thru September 1 — Atlanta, GA — The inner (alright, it’s outer) fanboy in me wants to attend the largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the US. I’m not sure how much of this show is dedicated to comic books, but from what I’ve heard there’s plenty to see. I just think Atlanta is too far to fly in August. Chance of attending Dragon*Con in 2008 — 07%.

SPX — October 4 thru 5 — Bethsea, MD — Like I stated before, I dig small press and this is the show for independent cartooning and comics. This seems like the perfect show to promote my projects like Hero Happy Hour, though I’d be more interested in checking out the projects of others. But, it is on the other side of the continent. If I’m a huge success this summer… Chance of attending SPX in 2008 — 09%.

APE — November 1 thru 2 — San Francisco, CA — Well, if it doesn’t look like I’ll be attending SPX, then the odds are much better to make APE — it is on the same side of the continent that I am. The Alternative Press Expo claims to be an incredible gathering of the very best in indy, alternative, and self-published comics, books and ‘zines, with some of the best writers, artists and creators in the industry. Chance of attending APE in 2008 — 33%.

I believe that wraps it up for potential comic book conventions for 2008. There might be another one or two that creep up. One of my all-time favorite conventions is Mid-Ohio Con, usually held during Thanksgiving weekend, but I couldn’t find any information about a 2008 show. I’d love to attend that show again someday.
